───── The World ─────
The Nemeion group canon takes place in a fantastical Greco-Roman society, and borrows much of its vernacular from Latin. Our combat system takes inspiration from gladiator traditions. The land in which the group canon presides is referred to as Nemeia. The species of big cat that occupies the group's focus are referred to simply as Nemeion lions, lions, sabers, or cats. |
───── The Royal Family ─────
The Caesar's wife, Anthea Paratus, is beloved by all of Nemeia for her kindness and generosity. While she may not play a huge part in her husband's affairs, she is one of the most prominent female figures across all of Nemeia. After suffering from several miscarriages, she turned her focus to creating a legacy with the Nemeion breed. She believes in the domestication of the Nemeion lion breed, and is an advocate against animal cruelty. She is well-known for breeding Nemeion cubs, which she gifts to the citizens of Nemeia. |
The Royal family consists of the Caesar and his wife, Anthea. The Caesar, known as Julianus Aurelius Paratus II, was born to a line of Caesars who have ruled Nemeia for well over two hundred years. He is the eldest son of three boys, and the rightful heir to the throne of Athens─the capital of Nemeia. He is a firm, yet just Caesar, one who cares deeply for his people, his wife, and his pets. |
───── The Nemeion Lion ─────
They are said to be descended from the Nemean lion, and in ancient legend were fabled to have an impenetrable hide and claws that could tear through any armor. In Nemeion's lore, Hercules did not slay the creature but instead befriended it and employed it as an ally in battle. They are priceless as hunting companions and beasts of war. While not invincible, the horse-sized lions that inhabit Nemeia are incredibly tough beasts, and very dangerous. Those that mold their profession around this deadly beast must be just as tough and unforgiving as these great cats. |
── As an adult, lions are typically the size of a average to large sized horse (think, between 140 and 200 cm)
Cubs become adolescents at about two years of age, and adults at five years of age.
── They have a "canon" lifespan of thirty years on average, but the group will never age your cat. It can be immortal in your own continuum if that is your preference, or age as you desire it to.
── Nemeion cubs' saber teeth start out as no more than inch-long stubs, and typically reach maturity at adolescence. Some adults may still have stub teeth as a result of improper growth or calcium deficiency during formative years.
── Nemeion Lions have enough spinal integrity and the appropriate structure to be ridden, but it is not advised, nor typically practiced. Some particularly bold individuals may dare to do so, however.
── Odd, rare, and unusual cats are hoarded by the Caesar; having one within one's pride is a feat worthy of great respect.
